This is what happens when you get to know someone for the first time.
At first you only see the outside, not only meaning the shape of that person, eyes, nose and so on, but also what they want you to see about them. They are the ones with the power of making you like them. The truth is that you see the "true self" when the outside disappears and all that's left is the inside
This is pretty much what happens with aging. The inside is what remains, because the outside tends to slowly disappear. Think about why people leave your life as you grow, either because you let them go or because they decide to. You are now the one in power of liking them or not.
Focus on the faces of these illustrations, the symmetry of Modigliani fade away as you approach the mystery behind De Chirico.
